Part 1: The Prince Who Would (not) Be King

Let me tell you a story . . . about a Prince who would not become a King.  The whole situation is clearly seen in this photo on the left.  A young Prince Charles of Wales stands behind his young mother, Elizabeth, Queen of England.  The photo appears to have been taken in the middle 1960’s.  Elizabeth had become Queen in 1953 and is now (2018) 92 years of age.  Charles is currently 70 years of age.  Mother and son have been Queen and Prince for most of those 70 years.

This series of postings is planned to cover five major events in Charles’ life.  Through these five blog postings we will come to better understand this man and how his unique life has shaped him.  A brief look at his natal chart will be undertaken before examining a tragedy in his young life.

We will note the symbol of England, Leo the Lion, rising at the Ascendant degree. Charles exhibits his pride today, but that was not always the case.  His Sun is in the sign of Scorpio at the cusp of the 5^th house.  Charles exhibits many Scorpio traits, brooding and secretive, interested in the occult and understanding the under-pinnings of the world around him, having deep feelings and concerns which are often not expressed.  Perhaps Pluto and Ceres, found in the 1^st house, most easily describe some aspects of his early life.  Charles was a fragile child.  Pluto and Ceres indicate problems with the assimilation of foods as well as coping with a mother who appears distant from the child’s point of view.  Elizabeth was, in fact, a very-present mother to Charles when she was home and not occupied with matters of state.

Charles did indeed exhibit a less-than-robust constitution.  And his parents duties and trips, plus being shuttled from one school to another each year, all left him feeling a bit lonely.  He often found older adults to fill part of the parental role he needed in his life.  Charles’ Moon is in the Gibbous phase relative to the Sun (135 to 180 degrees ahead of the Sun).  This indicates an inquiring and analytical mind; where one works to fit into the world, contribute to the world, adjusting to being a perfectionist in a casual world.  Life will seem to be a search for becoming better functioning in what ever role life hands him.

His t/Moon-opposite-n/Sun in the 7^th house chart is shown below.

t/Moon-opp-n/Sun-7^th indicates difficulties with managing relationships.  One’s own reactions to those relationships are deeply felt.  One should note that t/Sun squares this opposition pattern; suggesting that a male will be involved – perhaps a royal male if the very close t/Jupiter is considered.  We can take note of other patterns in this chart.

• n/Part-of-Fortune (n/PoF) is at the MC; Charles’ goals, life status and public image is subject to change.  We should note its counterpart, t/PoF-11^th-opposite-t/Mercuryj-n/Asc.  Upsetting (opposition) news (t/Mercury) will personally (n/Asc.) affect him.
• Since the n/Asc. is part of this, we should note the chart’s Asc. with t/Chiron.  Deep hurts and prior sensitivities will be experienced.  Chiron’s conjoining with Vesta points to a practicality in dealing with those hurts that may arise.
• We can’t overlook that t/Mercury is conjoining the n/Asc. while n/Mercury is found at the chart’s Descendant angle.  ‘Doubled-up Merucry’s’ indicate very important news or documents being involved during this cycle.
• ‘Doubled up Mercury’s and doubled-up PoF’s indicate great upsets are in store for Charles.

(Story teller)  There exists, in these above words, the foundation for a story.  Changes due to news leaves one in a state of anticipation.  What might these changes consist of?  On August 27, 1979 his close uncle, “Dickie” Mountbatten, was killed by a bomb planted on his fishing boat, the Shadow V.  Mountbatten’s grandson, and two others were killed, three others were seriously injured.  Charles is said to have been ‘shattered’ by the news and poured out his grief into his private journal.  “Dickie” had been one of those older ‘mentors’ that filled a void in his life caused by both his parents duties that left little time for him, and his movement between a series of public-private schools that kept him away from home.  In actuality, “Dickie” was 2^nd cousin, one removed, to Charles’ mother.  He had taken a personal interest in preparing Charles for the life that he would come to lead. The man responsible for the bombing was caught and sentenced to life imprisonment but was released some 19 years later in the political accords that ended the conflict between England and Northern Ireland.

The chart for this tragedy is shown below, a diurnally Advanced chart set for 13 days after the prior t/Moon-opposite-n/Sun Return chart.

In the intervening two weeks (almost) the chart’s MC has advanced from 16 to 28 degrees of Capricorn.  Previously the chart’s MC had been joined by the n/PoF.  On this fateful day the t/PoF is at the IC, opposite the MC.  Let us review this, for an important interpretive point is seen here.

When an angle and a planet/point are angular in a Return chart, and later we find the other version (natal or transiting) of that planet/point to be present in an Advanced chart – at an angle – we would typically say that this was a coincidence.  There are no coincidences.  This is like the chart ‘screaming’ at us to pay attention.  The vertical axis is our life’s well being and status.  When symbols of change (PoF, Uranus, Moon) are present, then ‘change’ will affect us.

• In the Return chart we found t/Chiron at the Ascendant.  Here, two weeks later, we find n/Chiron at the Desc.  This is related to the statement above.  We can also see this as a “doubling up process from one chart to the next.”  Chiron symbolizes past hurts and issues, and the present closing and opening of ‘doors.’  In this case, a bomb explosion has closed a door for young Charles.
• Even if not angular, we always have to take note of t/Sun, t/Moon and t/PoF.  Here we note t/Moon-opposite-n/Moon.  A huge conflict of emotions exists on this date.  This emotional event (Moon-Moon) squares the t/PoF within a few degrees. 
• Since a bomb was the cause of these upsetting changes, we have to ask, “What role does Mars play in all of this?”  t/Mars opposes n/PoF, having moved from 4 degrees Cancer two weeks ago to 12 degrees Cancer now where it opposes n/PoF.  n/Mars is deep into the 7^th house, still technically angular, where it conjoins t/Neptune.  Mars-Neptune relates to the bomb on the boat, although many astrologers would not likely predict this ahead of time.

So, the angular planets and planet-counterparts found elsewhere do tell us the story of this day.  Our ability, as astrologers, to forecast this ahead of time, is always being tested.

How close we come to ‘forecasting’ the story depends upon how close we are to the people and the flow of their daily life we are.  Knowing the CONTEXT of the subject’s life is important.  Without it, we can quote generalities.  We can also note the exact date when the chart’s promise will likely be fulfilled. 

Relative to relationships, how would the astrologer pinpoint who would be the victim that caused to grief that Charles felt on this day?  The rules for family relationships say that an Aunt or Uncle, for a man, on his mothers side is the 6^th house.  Grief is symbolized by the 12^th house and Saturn.  It is difficult to apply these rules to the above chart.  The one obvious (most obvious, perhaps) is t/Mars-opposite-n/PoF.  n/PoF is in the natal 6^th house.  Does this mean that most “chance and change” situations associated with the PoF will carry a 6^th house meaning?  It is easy to cherry-pick associations after the fact, difficult to do so before the fact.

Post 4: The End of a Retirement. “The Times, They Are a’changing.”

Let me tell you a story . . . about how a retirement came to an end.  After all of the decades of break-ins, rapes and murders, and then — nothing.  It all came to a fitting end.  We have all seen TV advertisements about tracking one’s ancestry, finding out where in the world we came from, determining what we are medically susceptible to.  With the establishment of DNA databases, the police decided to take a still-viable rape kit and test it.  The found an extensive family tree linked to that DNA.  From that information they identified each individual by age, location and employee during the long unsolved crime spree.  They finally narrowed it down to one suspect, J. J. DeAngelo.  Following him, the police were able, on April 18, 2018, to obtain a DNA sample from a truck door handle, and later from a discarded tissue.

A review of DeAngelo’s t/Moon-opp-n/Sun Return of April 17th, 2018 reveals several interesting patterns.

• t/Moon-2nd opposes n/Sun-8th. The ‘ages-old’ identification of the eighth house with death, sex and taxes comes to mind here.  Semen, cells, DNA as property bestowed on another might be an applicable concept here.  Moon in the second house relates to recognizing what you need and drawing support to you from others.  Placing these thoughts into the context of being discovered might result in “One’s intent and actions (Sun) involving the welfare of others (8th) has come into the light (t/Moon in opposition to the n/Sun) of one’s own needs and values as represented by the 2nd house.”
• n/Moon-MC-t/BM, square t/Chiron. DeAngelo’s own needs and past activities (n/Moon) are the focus of his public life at this time (MC).  All of the darker aspects of behavior associated with those distorted personal needs (t/Black Moon Lilith) become impossible (square) to hide from as he is personally linked (Asc.-t/Chiron) to the pain of himself and others.
• The above statement is mirrored by t/PoF-1st opposing n/Chiron-n/Jupiter (issues of some great magnitude).

 

If we turn our attention to the following day, April 18th, 2018 when DeAngelo’s DNA was collected, leading to the uncovering of his long-time deceit, we find that changes in the Advanced chart after one day are small but significant.

 

The Ascendant has moved closer to t/Chiron, t{PoF and t/Sun and t/Uranus are now joined and opposing his n/Asc., and t/Moon is now opposing n/Mercury.

• MC-conjoining-t/BML within 2 degrees; dark obsessions are being discovered.
• Asc.-conjoining-Chiron within 4 degrees;  past issues that have been difficult to understand and control are being personally encountered at this time.
• The tight grouping of t/PoF-t/Sun-t/Uranus suggest startling revelations about his core character and life style.
• t/Moon-opposite-n/Mercury; changes are in the wind that will highlight past news and provide information.

 

It is a popular practice at this time (2018) to have one’s DNA examined. This is done for a variety of reasons; to determine if a predisposition to a medical problem exists, to determine parental links when children are involved, or to explore one’s ancestry and countries-of-origin.  Everyone is intrigued with where they come from.  In this case the police came up with the idea that DNA linked to a past case of rape that fit the MO (Method of Operation) of the serial killer could be compared to the vast database of DNA that had recently come into existence.  Bingo!  They had a ‘hit’ of sorts.

They found a family tree, a number of people, linked to their DNA sample.  Using the database and municipality-state records, the police put together all of the people within this family tree.  Their age, gender, locality, work history, etc. were all taken into account to see who could fit into the crime timeline of the Golden State Killer.  One name emerged.  The next step was to collect DeAngelo’s DNA and match it to the evidential DNA.

Closely following DeAngelo, the police collected DNA from a door handle on a truck, and later from a discarded tissue.  The truth was revealed.

Following lab tests that determined that DeAngelo’s DNA matched the evidential DNA, an arrest was made on April 24, 2018.  The diurnally advanced chart reveals these astrological factors:

• t/Mercury-Asc.; personal news will be dealt with on this day.  Mercury can also be associated with documents, such as an arrest warrant.  This t/Mercury opposes n/Neptune; deceit and hidden information is revealed.
• Note also that t/Mercury-Asc. squares t/BML-MC;  that which was hidden from others is now very public and open as a personal issue to be dealt with.

Non angular players such as t/Sun, t/Moon and t/PoF also have to be considered.

• t/Part of Fortune wraps it all up.  t/PoF contacts n/Saturn-n/Mars-n/MC, throwing all of his repressed anger and resulting actions into the spotlight.  t/PoF also opposes t/Mars-t/Pluto, the two bad boys of the solar system.  Anger will be shown for what it has been for DeAngelo.  t/PoF is in the 5th house of love/lust.
• t/Moon squares t/Venus, opposing t/BML; old emotional issues need to be faced and balanced out.  Harmony and balance always seems to be required when human mistreatment occurs — often in the guise of legal justice.
• t/Sun squares n/MC; His intentions and character are facing difficulties relating to his now-public status.

In the coming weeks and months there will be more public news concerning DeAngelo.  If that news is significant we may wish to revisit his charts. 

 

Post 3: A Serial Rapist & Killer Who Retired.

Let me tell you a story  . . . . about a serial rapist & killer who retired.

It would seem that the Golden State Killer committed his last rape and murder on May 4, 1986.  The unfortunate victim was 18 year old Janelie Cruz of Irvine, Ca who was raped and killed in the night and discovered the next day.  Was this a ‘planned’ final event or did something happen that prevented further killings?  He had been working with a local police department up until 1979 when he was caught shoplifting.  The period through the late 70’s and the 80’s is not known at this time in terms of employment or of his life and activities.  By 1990 until his arrest in 2018 he worked as a truck mechanic. 

We should take note of his natal Jupiter-Neptune conjunction in the 9th and near his MC.  This pair indicates strong emotional expression, intense imagination, conflicts between what is possible and what is likely impossible, wastefulness. We can speculate how this visualization (Neptune) of him playing out puffed-up, exaggerated social roles might have led to him being the lover that every woman wanted — or something along that line.  This might have compensated for the difficult childhood, as he saw it, as indicated by Moon-inconjunct-Saturn from (near) the MC to the 3rd house.  We will look at the chart in a minute.

While we will be considering the Return chart to follow, we will also be looking at the natal chart’s Jupiter-Neptune conjoining.  Conjunctions in a natal chart need to be given special attention —  they reoccur later in life and their presence in other charts can tell an interesting story.  On Jan. 19, 1984 transiting Jupiter-Neptune conjoined at 0:01 Capricorn, a degree from his natal South Node.   The South Node symbolizes that part of our being which innately ‘knows’ what to do and how to do it, a sort of inner resource area which we can utilize as needed.  That same point is where the Ascendant of this t/Moon-to-n/Sun Return chart (to be shown next) is located and where t/Neptune is located.  This cyclic point between these two outer planets is part of the chart that follows — a t/Moon-to-n/Sun Return for April 24, 1986.

• t/Neptune-n/Moon-Ascendant; a high emotional state exists.
• t/Part of Fortune (t/PoF) conjoins n/N.Node near the Descendant; he will be attracted to and will change a person that he meets or comes into contact with. Note t/N.Node at the IC; two N.Node symbols indicate that another person will have a huge social impact on him.  (This is a ‘doubled-up pattern, always an important part of our analysis).
• t/Sun conjoining the t/N.Node indicates his attention and interest is drawn to another person who is new in his live (IC, 4th house).
• If the rectification made by Starkman is correct, n/Venus-n/Asc. are at the MC angle. He will have to personally face and deal with the goals and public image that he has created for himself.  This n/Venus-n/Asc-MC pattern squares n/Saturn-n/Mars-n/MC; there seems to be a major realization that life is not of any satisfaction to him at this time.

 

With the above statements in mind let us return to the discussion of the Jupiter-Neptune pattern.  This pair transited and conjoined at 0:01 Capricorn in January of 1984, just before the last rape and murder associated with him.  That point is on the Ascendant of the Return chart.

Let us look now at this t/Moon-to-n/Sun Return of April 26, 1986 fits in with the Jupiter-Neptune cycle.  We have t/Moon-n/Sun in the 11th house of community services squaring n/Pluto;  There has always been a part of him that struggled with his use of power and control urges.  Yet, the basic meanness within him (Mars-Saturn behind the n/MC) kept playing out his role in life.  So, the fantasies (Neptune) he experiences (Asc.) gives him a lot to think about (t/Jupiter-3rd house).  The two transiting units (Neptune-Jupiter) are in the 2nd of an 8 segment phase.  This ‘Crescent’ phase questions the validity of how one is expressing this cycle.  Inner conflicts become visible to one-self.  How will one respond; will something be ignored, be resolved, or just continue to ‘stew inside’, driving one to further work out the solution.  Whether some form of conscience or a form dissatisfaction as he entered his 40’s occurred is difficult to say.  In any case, against this outer-planet cyclic background, the rape and murder career fell apart.

The Story Teller notes that having a ‘back story’ or a ‘reason behind the plot’ is important.  One can more readily identify with the villain when his inner conflicts are known and his outer form of expression — whether perfect or imperfect — are known.  We can watch what is done against what drives one forward and project what will happen as well as think about how we might find ourselves in a similar and perilous situation.  In this case we have long-term issues that work in the background (the cycles of the two outer planets) and the immediate, almost routine in a gross way, invasions of private homes to rape and murder.

The Advanced chart for May 4, 1986 is shown below.

This is an extraordinary and interesting chart.

• n/Asc. is at the MC;  He is facing his decisions, his goals, his self-image.  Is he satisfied, does he like what he is doing?
• t/Neptune is exactly on the Asc.; he is enacting a fantasy.  Does he really know what he is doing?
• t/Pluto in the 10th and near the MC;  This is an exercise in power over the weak.
• t/Mars in the first, square n/Jupiter in the 9th; a “greedy-grabber” action, taking advantage of another.
• t/PoF-n/Sun-10th-opposite-t/Sun-4th;  Whenever there is two Suns in hard aspect we know there is a context of wills.  Did the victim fight back and make an impression on him, or did the rape and murder result in a fracture within him, one part liking what he was doing, the other part of him wanting to end this game of dominance?

 

In summary, there seems to be a deep undercurrent in these charts.  There is the long-range cyclic motion of the Jupiter-Neptune natal conjunction which re-forms in early 1984.  The zodiac point where they again conjoin is on the Ascendant of this Return and Advanced chart for the date of the last rape and murder.  Clearly the meaning behind this Jupiter-Neptune pairing has come back into his life at this time.  Now, contrast this long term pattern with the several short-term patterns of the Return-Advanced charts.  We have the opposing Suns (a conflict of two minds), the ‘doubled up’ N.Node-Desc. and N.Node-IC pattern where ‘associations’ and how we deal with them comes into play.  All of this seems to be the basis for the sudden stopping of his crime spree.  What happens in the two decades of quiet time, and the sudden re-emergence of his crimes in recent months is what we will discuss in the next posting.

 

Part Two: One Thing Leads To Another Thing

Let me tell you a story . . . of how one thing leads to another thing.  One such ‘thing’ was the murder covered in Part One of this blog series.  A year earlier, DeAngelo, now believed to have been known as “the Visalia Ransacker,” was very busy breaking into area homes, stealing personal items, money, household items, and also tearing up bedrooms, scattering items and clothes.  At that time different names were used by the police and the press to describe the home break-ins that occurred in each community.  All in all, some 120 such crimes were committed in the early-mid 1970’s in the Visalia area of California.  One crime stands out in terms of our story.  

It started with peeking through windows at night, progressed to scouting an area to find homes with lots of bushes and gardens and large sliding glass patio doors.  He could hide there and watch a family going about their business.  Then came the break-ins when he would touch and take small items, or leave things misplaced so the family would know someone had been in their home.  Then visits into bedrooms to watch them sleep.   One thing leads to another.

This is a perfect framing for a story.  We can all relate to one thing leading to another thing.  We can, this early, anticipate a crises of some sort arriving through the words of the story teller.   The photo of this story teller shows him framing a story line, don’t you think?

Anyone can be a story teller.  Anyone can be a story. 

 

Let us now look at a t/Moon-to-n/Sun Return chart for DeAngelo, cast for Sept. 9th,  1975, the year before the recounting given in Part One.

We first look in Return carts for the Moon-Sun house position and for angular and angular-house planets.

• t/Moon-n/Sun in the 9th; Visiting distant or unknown places is a brief summary we can apply, generically.  This t/Moon-n/Sun squares n/Pluto in the 7th; Seeking to exercise control over another’s environment.  (This fits with a house break-in.)
• t/N.Node-MC;  The N.Node in a Return chart typically involves making an association or meeting another relative to your work or vocation.  (Kidnapping seems ‘extreme’ in terms of making someone’s acquaintance.)
• n/MC at the Desc. angle; another becomes involved in your work or current goals.  n/Mars is very close to the n/MC and the Descendant angle;  DeAngelo will attack or try to maintain control over another.
• t/Saturn-conjoins-n/Saturn; This is DeAngelo’s ‘Saturn Return’ period when he realizes his place in life and thinks about his future.  What are his responsibilities to himself and to others?  This is a time to make choices which will shape the rest of one’s life.
• Two non-angular factors can be considered when assessing Return charts; the position and aspects of the t/Sun and the position and aspects of the t/Part of Fortune (t/PoF).  We will note that t/Sun-squares-t/Mars-n/Uranus.  DeAngelo’s current intentions (t/Sun) are to take control (t/Mars) of a home (4th house; home and personal resources) for the purpose of destabilizing (n/Uranus) it.  Here I am using simple keywords that fit the context of a home break-in.  Now, note t/PoF in the 2nd house opposing t/Pluto in the 8th house;  Change and chaos (t/PoF) will affect one’s valuable and sense of worth due to the intrusion of a dominating force (t/Pluto) acting on behalf of another (a stranger that threatens).

So, this Return chart tells us what to generally expect from DeAngelo over the next two week period.  We realize that this period is especially critical for him as a human being.  Around age 29-30, we all experience our first ‘Saturn Return,’ a time when the weight of our personal well-being and place-in-the-world suddenly comes into our awareness.  Against this we have the ‘small stuff’ of life, our habits, our choices, our lifestyle — all of which may help or hinder us in acting on this very new realization that this is an important time.

During the night of Sept. 11, 1975 at about 2:00 AM, Claude Snelling heard a noise within his home which awoke him.  Scrambling through the darkened house he found nothing.  More noise in the carport adjacent to the kitchen and back door caught his ear.  Outside the door, Claude found a man dressed in dark clothes trying to kidnap his daughter.  He was threatening her to be quiet or be killed.  Clause charged the man holding his daughter and was shot.  As the intruder escaped, Claude fell back through the doorway and later died.

• The t/N.Node remains near the MC angle, the Descendant angle has moved a few degrees away from the n/MC angle, n/Mars, and the two Saturns. This lessens some of the astrological pressures but what replaces those tensions as this night of murder arrives?
• t/Mars has advanced to exactly conjoin with n/Uranus in the 4th house; Force can be used to deal with surprising and sudden events. 
• t/Sun squares t/Mars-n/Uranus and t/Moon opposes t/Mars-n/Uranus. t/Sun equates to one’s current intent, and t/Moon equates to a surge of emotions and strong reactions.  The tension in this man  on this date must have been quite high.
• t/PoF-conoining-t/Chiron opposes t/Uranus-n/Asc.; One reacts (t/PoF) to one’s fears (t/Chiron) when aroused by (the opposition to) sudden events and surprises (t/Uranus).

We have here an astrological diagram or drawing of a man who sneaks into homes during the night and has decided to take a young girl captive, to drag her out of the house.  Only, he gets discovered by the girl’s father who tries to rescue her.  Panic.  A gunshot,  More noise from the house, and houses next door to come awake.  More panic, run, leave ones bicycle, drop what was stolen.  Escape.  This is all seen and described by the chart is astrological terms.  We only have to see it in a human context, translate the keywords of the symbols into full sentances to tell a story.

So, can you read this story?  If you are new to astrology, or just beginning, here is a listing of the planets and what concepts they relate to.

• Sun represents one’s intentions, decisions, ones self, ones lifestyle and character.
• Moon is one’s emotions, feelings, sympathy, nurturing, fears, habits and old memories.
• Mercury shows our perceptions and organizing of information.
• Venus shows what we love or lust for, our values, the balance and beauty in life and in us.
• Mars shows where we direct anger and energy, how we reach out and define territory.
• Jupiter indicates where opportunity lies, expansion and growth.
• Saturns tells us of our plans, strategy, hindrances, responsibility and where we don’t grow.
• Uranus is our inner self surprising us with truth, insights, surprises — all delivered suddenly.
• Neptune is deceit, illusion, dreams, visions, alcohol and self-deception.
• Pluto brings shock, disaster, force that can’t be resisted, upheaval and endings.
• Chiron unlocks old secrets and burdens, opens and closes life’s many doors.
• Part of Fortune represents how we act out and against the Sun-to-Moon relationship of life’s constant flow of growth, giving, learning and dissemination.

Each chart and each symbol can be ‘read’ or interpreted in many ways.  To tell a story that is relevant we have to know the context of the story, of the world that the subject lives and operates within.  

 

 

 

 

Part One: J.J. DeAngelo, the Rapist.

 Let me tell you a story  . . . a story which I’ll start on June 18, 1976.  The story could be started anytime earlier than this except that facts, dates and events are not that clear.  Earlier there were a number of burglaries and break-ins at different towns in the Sacramento, CA area.  Many of these are under investigation to seek linkage to the later, established crimes of J.J. DeAngelo.  But, for now our story starts at this point.  There are few photos now available for use in a blog site.  This photo, at an older age, probably looks unlike the much younger man who set off on a pro-longed career of break ins, rapes and murders.

DeAngelo would stalk middle-class neighborhoods, looking for women who were alone and lived in single-story homes.  The area chosen would have convenient avenues of escape.  This activity had not gone unnoticed.  Reports were often made about a stranger seen multiple times in an area looking at houses.  Yet, he was never able to be questioned, quickly leaving the area when he sensed he was being watched.  At night he was bold enough to look in windows to better determine that the victim and house were suitable for his interest. 

Let us first look at a t/Moon-to-n/Sun Return for June 9, 1976, prior to his first rape.

Since DeAngleo’s birth time is unknown, I have used a ‘noon’ birth time.  For t/Moon-n/Sun Returns (not for Solar Returns, not for Lunar Returns) a ‘noon’ natal chart will yield a Return chart MC which is within 7 degrees of a natal chart with a known birth time.  This is because of the 13-to-1 ration of daily Moon speed versus daily Sun-speed.  We can note the following patterns in this chart:

• The t/Moon-to-n/Sun Return takes place within 3 degrees of the IC angle.  My book gives the following generic theme statement, in part, for this position:  Promoting yourself, working through a transition, expanding one’s place or area of endeavor, starting a new phase of life. 
• Opposing the t/Moon-n/Sun position is transiting Black Moon Lilith, t/BML.  Very dark personal undercurrents are guiding his actions and intentions.  They may not be fully understood, or even sensed, but he feels compelled to follow these night adventures forward to their conclusion.
• t/N.Node is near the IC angle, on the 3rd house side.  t/N.Node is indicative of meeting someone, having an association, reaching out.

These are the only angular patterns to form the basis of our story.  We could take note of t/Mars and n/Pluto in the 12th house.  This may indicate a recent event or triggering of DeAngelo’s rage or sexual desires.  All in all, this is a vertical-axis emphasis chart.  Let us look now at an Advanced chart for June 18, 1976, nine days after the Return chart.

In this Advanced chart for the date of his first presumed rape, the emphasis remains on the vertical axis of the chart.  This is unusual for an event that seems to be ‘personally forcible and active.’  I would expect the Asc.-Desc. axis to be involved.  Let us look at this chart.

• t/Jupiter-MC square t/Mars-12th, and opposing n/MC at the IC angle with n/BML.  He will be playing a larger game (Jupiter) on this night.  It will feed some inner urge to act now in this manner (n/BML0UC9

These are the angular factors.  However, in an Advanced chart the t/Sun, t/Moon and t/PoF must always be considered even if not angular.

• t/Sun-t/Venus in the 11th; we could say, given the know context of what he was doing, that he was seeking love-or-lust (Venus) for himself (Sun) within the community (11th). That is a fine key-word statement, isn’t it?  Note the trine to n/Sun.
• t/Moon-squares-t/Neptune on this day; his sense of values, his inner visions-fantasies are working full time but do not quite mesh (the square aspect)
• The t/PoF conoins t/Jupiter-MC; he is impelled to act, to make a change in his life.  

The Story Teller notes at this point:  If this is the first chapter, then we have a beautiful set up for a story.  A man with a strange habit, that of wandering around neighborhoods at night, peeking in windows, sensing a building inner urge to do more, have more, be more.  More what.  His victims, the women he seeks to discover, intrigue him, lure him.  We have the makings of a horror story at hand.  The story leads us into his dark world.  Following his typical method of operation, he would enter a home in the early morning hours, waken and bind his victim’s hands and feet — often so tight that their limbs would be numb hours later after being rescued.  Several rapes would follow.  Between each rape the subject would make himself at home, browse among the family photographs, make something to eat, find a small trinket as a souvenir of his visit.  After a few hours, often around breakfast time, he would leave and follow one of his planned escape routes.  So, this first chapter leads us to anticipate an escalating situation. 

Summary of the Advanced chart.  DeAngelo had bigger dreams on this night, bigger needs than just peeking in windows and following his victim from room to room.  No more visual fantasies.  His personal ‘itch point’ was the natal Part of Fortune — the same itch point all of us have.  This was in this Advanced chart’s 7th house and t/Moon had just passed over that point.  This ‘itch point’ is squared by t/Mercury-opposing-n/Mercury — something had to be done, someone had to be ‘touched.’  The idea alone was no longer satisfactory.

News Clip: Senator Susan Collins Has Her Day In The Sun.

The diurnally Advanced chart for Senator Susan Collins is displayed below.

Today, Oct. 5, 2018, Senator Susan Collins made a speech.  Covering the best part of an hour she laid out a chain of legalistic points in which she framed the testimony of all of Brett Kavanaugh’s accusers as well as using the statements of the FBI report submitted to the Senate.  Since the FBI was given specific orders of who they would interview and who they would not interview, the final report reflected an expected set of information which could not support any of the statements made to the Senate Judiciary Committee by the accusers.  Collins had portrayed herself as  striving hard to find the truth behind the many stories.  This “I don’t know, haven’t made up my mind” game kept her in the news for several weeks, raising the hopes of many that her “no” vote would deny the Judge his nomination.  Not to be.

There is one chart factor which seems to summarize the day’s events.  t/Mercury-MC-n/Neptune-n/Saturn.  t/Mercury-MC signifies a speech concerning her career and public image.  Collins carried that off very well.   n/Neptune-n/Saturn-MC blends deception (Neptune), Saturn (structure; relating to her bullet-point speech) and the MC for her goals and image.  She pleased the conservatives in the Senate.  Not so much for the residents of Maine.

The next pattern to look at is the T-Square of t/Mars-to-t/PoF-opposite-t/Uranus.  This is the ‘chance and change’ (PoF) seeking to win out with surprising upsets (Uranus) being controlled by t/Mars (active manipulation).  It appears that the Senator from the small state of Maine likes the attention — and she created a great deal of anticipation and hope which she swiftly dashed Friday afternoon. 

We can also note t/PoF-t/Venus (t/PoF equates to ‘chance and change, while t/Venus equates to balance and popularity); this indicates a wishy-washy approach to how she sees and seeks to maintain a sense of balance in her work.  Probably this is why she took a long time to make one laborious point after another to justify her decision.

One may suspect that she is ‘sneaky’ in how she conducts her work for her constituents in Maine.  Note n/Moon-n/Pluto being conjoined by t/Moon.  This is clearly a stark play on emotions, a grand-standing event to make her seem to be very important.   Natal Sun has no good aspects to  shape her sense-of-place in the world.  

Although not angular, it is interesting to see t/Black Moon Lilith (BML) opposite n/BML.  I haven’t studied this astrological point enough to advance an interpretation.  Perhaps there are many hidden secrets in her Senate service that plays a role in this odious decision.

So, this is just a brief bit of news coupled with some chart observations for my readers to consider.  These short News Clips will be inserted from time to time to break up the more-studious study of the serial blogs that offer very complete stories.  The serial blog will always return, even if there should happen to two or more News Clips.

A Modern Jekyll & Hyde

Let me tell you a story . . . a disturbing story about a neighbor, a police officer, someone who betrayed the trust between people that makes our society function.  The person was, became, a burglar, a serial killer who raged across parts of California for years.  But before we can tell his story we need to first look at his natal chart so that we might better understand and what, astrologically, drove him in the direction that he chose.

Yes, this is a “noon” chart.  This almost automatically means that I will be using t/Moon-to-n/Sun Returns and diurnally Advanced charts to tell his story.  This is due to this type of chart being little affected by an ‘untimed’ chart.  Consider this; the t/Moon moves some 13 degrees per day, the Sun moves a single degree per day (more or less).  That is a 13:1 ratio.  Using a ‘noon’ time, the noon-MC will be within 7 degrees of the ‘actual-if-known’ MC value.  On average, a noon birth will be within some 6 hours or 3 degrees of accuracy.  Since many ‘timed’ birth charts are often found to be off by a half hour or more (equalling 7 degrees of MC positioning), the untimed Return chart can be considered fairly accurate and highly useful.

Enough.  This natal chart is for a J.J. DeAngelo, known as the Golden State Killer.  He was recently arrested (April of 2018).  We will be exploring his charts and exploits.  I have written out a natal briefing on him.

Personality.

Libra Rising:  Manner tends to be fair, tolerant, willing to listed to others or find ways to agree rather than sharpen differences.  Seeks to socially ‘fit in’ with others.  Can find it difficult to make choices under pressure.

Venus Conjunct Asc.:  This adds to the traditional Libra Ascendant qualities.  Affection, personal charm, sense of style.  Those who know your personally like you.

Inner Person.

Sun in Scorpio:  A deeply private person, complex emotions make you sensitive.  Afraid to open up unless you know someone well.  Instinctive and intuitive and approaching others.  Intensity shows within strong attachments.  Possessiveness, jealousy, unease when threatened directly or through questioning.  Devotion is shared with only a very few.  You can harbor grudges unless there is a reason to stop and self-analyze yourself.  Your life focus is ‘all or nothing’ — extremely all in or all out, narrow viewpoint, has a fanatical streak or two.  The secrets of life, yours or others, intrigue you.

Sun in 1st house:  Assertive, self-motivated, appears self-assured to others.  Control is important, you may overly-strive for it in every situation.  You may play ‘success’ scenes in your mind as a means of advancing your causes.  Having an ‘intention’ is the same as having a committed game plan; success is just a moment away.

Sun Square Pluto:  Willful, obsessed at times, hidden intensity.  You seek power thru knowledge of//about others.  The challenge is in how to handle power.  You may both fear yourself while being committed to ‘playing the game.’

Mentality and Mercury:  Mercury ranges far ahead of the Sun, 21 degrees, in Sag.; seeking fresh inputs.  Conjoining the Part of Fortune, Mercury assumes a leadership role in how life is planned, viewed, and savored.  Open to all possibilities, the mind finds itself restless while not often committed to deeper investigation.   Mercury-2nd house inclines to practicality in terms of understanding and taking advantage of opportunities. Yet, this practical nature contends with the sextile aspect to Neptune; dreams and the metaphysical world gets woven into your plans and dreams.

Emotions and the Moon:  The Moon is at the end of the first 0-to-45 degree phase of the Moon-to-Sun cycle, a phase that indicates a ‘spontaneous’ nature, one who likes to be seen by others, a performer.  Yet, being within a degree of the end of this phase causes one to fold in ‘a struggling nature to find one’s best path forward in life.’  The Sag. Moon is not an emotional anchor, more like an emotional kite that one seeks to follow as it zooms ahead of one as it follows life’s winds.

It is possible that the Moon’s nature could lead you to constructing scenarios for books, plays or entertainment.  You will find it easy to capture people’s imaginations.  The joy or love of metal stimulation and interaction with others yields an appreciation for whatever     You may also cling rather tightly to both money and possessions, keeping them “in the family” rather than sharing freely with those outside of your immediate circle.

Moon Sextile Venus:  The little routines of life add to your personal pleasure, and are utilized to please others and build relationships.  Venus, being just above the Ascendant and in the 12th house, will be slow to emerge into the ‘open-involving-others.’  Hiding your softer side seems natural but will hinder your growth and relationships.
Venus square Mars and Saturn:  You struggle to be poised in mixed company.  The problem is related to acting naturally and not being ‘up-tight.’   Mars-Saturn lends itself to a harshness in how one acts unless one works within a ‘routine’ or a ‘setting.’  Saturn-Venus patterns tend to involve a “tough love” feeling.  Moon-square-Saturn is a classic ‘early life difficulties in fitting-in’ feeling.  Put all together, your emotional plight has many facets to be smoothed out as you move through adult-hood. 

Mars-in-Cancer shies away from direct confrontation.  Saturn-in-Cancer feels like a fish out of water, not liking emotional swirls to deal with.  One can clearly see this pattern in the Moon-inconjunct-Saturn (and Mars) pattern linking the 2nd and 9th houses; how will exposure to the pressures of new and stressful situations affect your feeling of self-pride, accomplishment and personal values?

The ‘business of life’; Jupiter and Saturn.

Jupiter in Libra, 12th house:  Opportunities come through others, although they often have to sought out as they are seldom offered.  Quiet background work will always lead to those opportunities.  The trine aspect to Uranus brings opportunity through sudden or fresh insights into the circumstances you encounter on a daily basis.

Saturn in Cancer, 9th house:  Avoiding emotional dependence, your life’s work or passions has to exclude emotional involvement; you keep your distance and play by ‘the rules.’  Together, this pair indicates a life path where there is much ‘to balance out.’ 
We have the makings of an interesting, if frightening, story here.  Let’s consider some parts of this chart.  1)  Mars-Saturn is a generally cruel and heartless pattern  No, not always.  It can indicate great perseverance and hard work.  But, since we know that this story is about a killer, we can put Mars-Saturn in the right context.  2)  Venus squares Saturn; another itchy pattern, sometimes referred to as “tough love.”   3)  Normally the Venus-square-Mars might tell us that DeAngelo had to develop a facade of “poise” since it didn’t come quite naturally to him.   4)  On the other hand, he has Venus on the Ascendant; one would think he was a ‘charmer’ right off the bat.  Yet, that square to Mars-Saturn might show through the smile.

5) Sun squares Pluto.  Yikes.  How does one seek, find, and utilize ‘power’ or the desire for holding power?  With the 10th and 1st houses involved, ‘power’ becomes part of ones goal and self-image.  Sun brings ‘intent’ into the mix, “I will become powerful.”  Sound like a scene from a Star Wars Jedi who is not getting respect from others.  Sun-Pallas (the diamond with a cross below it symbol) indicates a difficulty in keeping the Sun-square-Pluto effort to manage self-control and power moving in the right direction and being helpful to reaching your goals.  6) Moon-inconjunct-Saturn is the ‘rock in the soup.’  This points to ‘growing up problems, from his point of view, within the family.

So, we have 1) cruelty, 2) hard-to-love, 3) a struggle to become a charming bastard, 4) a charming smile and outwardly pleasant demeanor, and 5) a desire to hold and use ‘power’ to his own advantage.  We have a true villan here, we have the basis for an interesting, if unsettling, story.

We will explore and follow some of DeAngelo’s escapades over several years, then pick up on the story behind his arrest, and then follow his trial — which will likely start in the next several days or couple of weeks.  These examples will enable us to learn about these types of Return charts and their use for forecasting our personal lives or the lives of those in the news.  Dave

How It Ends Matters Very Much

Let me tell you a story . . . about a young man who lost his way at an early age and then lost his life and future.  He didn’t wish to be lost, he tried several avenues to pursue.  Each attempt, for him, did not work out.  Over time frustration with his own problems was turned outward and seen as the fault of others.   For some, this is expressed as anger, as social activism, as criminal behavior such as robbery.  For Mark Conditt it was all about bombs.

We saw in his March 9, 2018 Moon-to-Sun Return that his natal chart angles were closely matched to the angles of the Return chart.  This signifies an inflection point, a time when life can twist and follow a new direction, gain momentum, or just plain fizzle out.  Given that the t/Part of Fortune, on that day, was at the natal and transiting MC, it was likely that ‘chance and change’ would be significant for him.  Especially since the t/PoF opposed his n/PoF at the IC.

As we move through the events of the previous few days in Conditt’s life, the bombs continued to terrorize the Austin, Texas area.  Everyone was being extra careful.  The authorities had used surveillance video from shipping companies and post offices, and had determined his identity.  Because the bombs contained large quantities of nails, check with local suppliers led to identifying receipts of those who had purchased such nails.  It didn’t take long to narrow the list of suspect down to one.  The  mad bombing spree was about to be closed down.  Let us first look at the diurnally Advanced chart for March 21, 2018, the chart that was based on the fateful Moon-to-Sun Return of March 9th.

This is not an overly remarkable chart.  For the most significant point in my life, I would wish for something more, a clear statement — “this is me, this is what I have accomplished.”  So, let us pick through the astrological rubble of this chart.

• t/Neptune-Desc.-n/Saturn; what is real, what isn’t, do others care?  From this angle at 13 Pisces, this pattern aspects the other three chart angles; echos of despair circle this chart.
• t/Moon is approaching the n/MC and opposing n/Pluto; publicity over one’s personal upheaval seems to be an applicable statement for this point in life. Note that n/Moon is in the first house; this is deeply personal for him.  It is all about him.  
• t/Sun in the 7th squares t/Mars in the 4th, widely square n/Mercury-11th;  He is angry, intends (Sun) to hurt others (square to Mars) as part of his message to the community (Mercury-10th).
• t/PoF conjoining n/Jupiter, squaring n/Venus is interesting.  While not angular, (we always have to consider t/Sun, t/Moon, t/PoF in Advanced charts no matter where they are positioned) we might choose to see this pattern as self-love and balance (Venus) has to deal with (square) a sudden expansion (Jupiter) of what he had done to others — a final understanding of his unbalanced nature.

Story tellers often use examples or ‘shadows’ of one story to help explain another.  Such is the case here, astrologically speaking.  The shadow used is the Moon-to-Sun Return of almost two weeks earlier wherein we saw the closeness of natal angles with the Return chart’s angles along with the opposing natal and transiting Part of Fortune on the vertical axis.  That Return chart, with the matching natal angles, provides a short-term imprint just as the natal chart provides a life-long imprint.  Conditt’s path was set before him.  He had to follow through, although he could have stopped at any time and changed his course.  Easier said than done.  So, for this day, we have only the despair on the Descendant angle in front of us, but behind this Advanced chart we have the looming shadow of the realigned angles.

Conditt’s name, appearance, home address and vehicle were known to the police on this fatal date.  Only his location was unknown.  Early on this morning of the 21st, he was spotted.  He pulled his truck over to the side of the road.  All was quiet.  More police arrived and surrounded the area.  Then the final bomb exploded, taking Conditt’s life with it.  The photo at the start of this post shows the final moment.

For those new to this type of Return charting, I hope the examples shown intrigue you to explore further.  This is the most effective tool I have found in 45 years of astrological study for effective forecasting work.  The natal chart is used.  The transiting chart is used.  What is different is that the timing and orientation of the chart is keyed to the moment when the transiting Moon conjoins or opposes the natal Sun.  As time passes I will take care to point out the concepts and workings of this charting method.  Dave.

 

The Beginning Of The End for Conditt

Let me tell you a story  . . . about the futile pursuit of ‘revenge’ against oneself.   Conditt had succeeded in killing two and injuring two on March 2nd and 12th, 2018.  The police and FBI had responded with a massive hunt for him.  Suspicions led the authorities to look for package bomb deliveries.  Cautionary news announcements had everyone on the alert — both the public and the delivery service companies.  Conditt decided to change his tactics.  On March 18, 2018, he set up a bomb that would explode when a trip-wire was activated.  Two were injured.  The photo above is from a surveillance video. This led to Conditt’s identification.   The Advanced chart for this date is shown below.

The reader will note a seemingly ‘mild’ event chart. 

• The t/Asc. is approaching an opposition to t/Neptune-n/Saturn;  the question becomes, “is this all real or is it happening in my head,” to quote Harry Potter in the final movie episode of the famous wizarding series.  He had firm ideas about the strange and unreal actions he was taking — which is to say that he was some kind of mixed up person.
• t/Mars-4th-square-t/Sun-7th; a conflicted mind strikes out — this is the best way to describe this pattern within the context of his overall actions.
• t/Sun-t/Chiron (t/Sun, along with t/Moon and t/PoF, is one of the three factors we look for in Return and Advanced charts have few angular planets to consider).  Here, in addition to squaring t/Mars, t/Sun conjoins t/Chiron; this is the time when he is acting upon inner and unresolved hurts and inadequacies. 
• t/Moon-t/Venus-t/Mercury in the 8th may prompt some to consider his inner confusion over his personal values, his response and deep feelings about himself, and how he was dealing with the 8th house association with sexuality.  This pattern indicates one who must learn to both adapt their personal values to the society they live within, or to deal with emotional turmoil until they can reconcile their inner feelings with the need to exist within their personal world.
• t/PoF is triggering the n/Moon and opposing the t/Sun.  Yes, this is a t/Sun-opp-n/Moon factor — the reverse of a t/Moon-opp-n/Sun chart.  Here ones intent and actions stir up emotions and unsaid feelings and hurts.  With t/Part of Fortune activating this pattern, we have an uncontrolled situation.

Every story teller knows that bringing in a mystery prior to a ‘building conclusion’ to a story helps to highlight the tension and the interest of the audience or readers.  This is the case here, unknowingly, by Conditt.  We know he is conflicted about his personal life, his inability to support himself and to prove himself against some standard that only he knows.  He has turned around his own self-disappointment and anger and projected it out upon ‘others’.  The ‘why’ is hard to understand.  What can be known to the reader, to the Austin, Texas public, was that this was approaching an end point.

On March 20, another bomb went off at a packaging distribution center, injuring one.  By now the authorities had been reviewing video tapes from all of the area’s distribution centers and had narrowed their investigation.  He was a suspect.  The Advanced chart for 20th of March is shown below.

In the two days following the ‘trip wire explosive’, this chart has changed by some small degree.

• t/Sun is approaching an exact square to t/Mars; anger and rash actions are building up within Conditt.  This also activates his natal n/Sun-square-n/Moon pattern which is prone to taking strong action to define himself.
• t/PoF is opposing t/Uranus, 2nd to 8th; he finds expression and satisfaction by shocking others, in turn stimulating his own excitement and validity.
• t/Moon is approaching n/Mars; adding to the emotionally charged actions he is taking.  
• t/Desc. is conjoining with n/Saturn and t/Neptune; the time to deal with both fantasy and reality — and their differences — is at hand.

This date, the 20th of March, 2018, is the last full day of life for Mark Conditt.  The next day, the tomorrow for this date, will resolve this terrible personal issue and the community’s fears.  The next posting will reveal the end of this story.

 

Mark Conditt, Part 2: Inflection Point

Part 2:  Inflection Point. His commitment to move ahead with his package bombing campaign.

Let me tell you a story . . . about how one’s stars align to present a trigger that seems to drive one forward along a set path.  Conditt’s delivery of a mail-bomb a week earlier gave him time to savor the results, listen to the news, and to plan a follow-up campaign to terrorize the community as a form of punishment for his own inadequacies.  We will first review his t/Moon-opposite-n/Sun Return for March 9th, 2018. 

In the time interval from the first package bombing, Conditt had a new t/Moon-opposite-n/Sun Return, shown above.  There is so much in this chart that can be said to represent a ‘trigger’ for his spree of package-bombs.  Let us review each ‘trigger’ in this Return chart.

• Realignment of natal angles to the Return chart angles. This phenomena happens every year or two, sometimes less often.  It reminds us of the birth chart and its ‘natal imprint.’  This is a return chart that is renewing that natal imprint while also emphasizing new outlets of expression through the planets in their new positions.  The realignment of angles to angles is very powerful and marks a major energy expression that can change one’s life, or even challenge one ability to pursue life.  Note the chart’s MC just 3 degrees from the natal MC shown in the outer ring.  Likewise the natal Asc. angle is within 3 degrees of the Return chart’s Ascendant.
• t/Part-of-Fortune (PoF)-MC opposes n/PoF-IC; The PoF represents ‘chance and change.’  When contacting an angle or a planet, the focus is upon that angle or planet and it’s role in how ‘chance and change’ will express itself.  With both natal and transiting PoF in play upon the vertical axis we can have chaos resulting in the subject’s goals and position in life being upset in a significant way.
• t/Moon-opposite-n/Sun from the 4th to the 10th house; feeling that a new start, a strong statement will satisfy his discontent, visualizing a fulfillment of his goals in life being finally displayed, the t/Moon-opp-n/Sun placement mirrors the underlying idea of accomplishing a ‘feel-good project that will look-good’ to himself. Bolstering this is the broad square to the following pattern and statement.
• n/Moon-opposite-t/Sun from 1st to the 7th house; This, along with the 6th-12th house axis, is problematic.  The Sun-Moon polarity has implications of ‘me-versus-you’ or ‘my decisions versus my feelings.’  Many other related polarities can be cited.  n/Moon-1st puts one’s life-long emotional self-picture forefront.  A whole range of developed and long-held emotions can be felt.  The Virgo placement may cast a dispassionate pall over those feelings making them seem highly personal.  The t/Sun-7th casts one’s focus on ‘the other person’.  The Pisces Sun, transiting, seems to represent a current and ambiguous ‘them.’
• Supportive elements include: n/Chiron-Asc.; long held hurts and inferiority issues can be represented by this pattern.  n/Black Moon Lilith (BML) represents a darker and secret force that cannot be easily seen or explained, much like an intuitive dislike for something, that affects our actions or choices without us even realizing its influence.  t/Neptune conjoining n/Saturn can dampen or hide one’s sense of self-discipline and moral code.  n/Pluto-IC is a cheering-squad for mayhem and destruction of basic security.

 

The story teller notes that this chart is like a scenario out of the Hansel and Gretel fairy tale.  The dark woods scene is represented by BML-MC and Chiron-Asc.  The opposition of the two PoFs is the invitation by the old witch to enter the cottage for some cookies.  The t/Moon-opp-n/Sun is their awareness of the peril that will affect their immediate future.  The n/Moon-opp-t/Sun is the decision process that recognizes the sham of the witch (represented by t/Neptune-n/Saturn-7th).  The stories we offer to children are much more crucial and difficult that we, as adults, often realize.  Yet, it may be our way of inoculating children against the cruelty of some adults that they may meet in life.  Photo taken from Google images.

 

The Return chart is an imprint that hovers over all of the events that may transpire in the next two weeks of this ‘personal full moon cycle.’  Let us now explore how this started to unfold.

On March 12, 2018, ten days after the first package-bomb claimed its first victim, two more packages were delivered to two widely separated addresses.  The first package exploded and killed a student and his mother.  The second package explosion seriously injures a 75 year old woman and causes minor injuries to her mother.  The authorities quickly determined that all three bombings were linked.  The Austin metropolitan area was very much on edge.

In the three days since the Return chart, the MC angle has advanced and exactly coincided with the n/MC angle. The same is true for the Ascendant angle.  The trigger has been pulled. 

• The n/PoF remains at the IC angle, the t/PoF (with its rapid daily movement) opposes t/Saturn-t/BML-t/Pluto, and squares t/Mercury in the 8th. The n/Mercury-square-t/Mercury is involved in this; Mercury representing the mail and the delivery process.  Note also n/Mercury in the 11th house of community and t/Mercury in the 8th house of death.
• t/Mars-4th-opposes-n/Sun-10th; One acts against one’s own common sense, follows a plan that seems outside of one’s own conceptions. Who is really being attacked here?
• t/Sun has closed its opposition to n/Sun, mirroring the t/Moon-n/Sun pattern of the Return chart. This seems to confirm his commitment to a path of destruction for the community as well as for himself.  I believe that he realized at this point that the situation would not end well for him personally.  Likely, he was planning on that.

This date saw two package bombs delivered to different addresses.  One bomb both killed and injured a person.  The second bomb resulted in an injury.  By this time all of the law authorities were involved in this case.  Warnings were issued to not pick up or open any package delivered to you.  Postal and delivery service people were put on notice to exercise extra vigilance.  Yet, this notice would not reach everyone.
